Ingredients

2 lbs. grass fed ground beef

1 green pepper, diced

1 sweet onion, diced

1 jalapeno pepper, seeds removed, minced

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 1/4 cups ketchup

3 tablespoons brown sugar

2 tablespoons yellow mustard

2 tablespoons white vinegar

2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce

Salt and pepper to taste

Directions

Cook ground beef in a skillet until crumbled, browned, and mostly cooked through. Drain off most of the fat.  Then add green pepper, onion, and garlic to the pan and cook until vegetables are soft, and the meat is fully cooked.

In a separate bowl, whisk together ketchup, brown sugar, yellow mustard, white vinegar, and Worcestershire sauce.

Stir sauce into meat and simmer for 10 minutes.

Serve on a bun with fresh pepper rings, cheddar cheese, tomatoes, and bread and butter pickles (opt.).

Once cooked, Sloppy Joes can be kept warm in a crockpot for up to four hours.  Just add ½ cup of water to the sauce and stir occasionally to keep the meat from drying out.
