Asian Slow Cooker Pork Roast

Ingredients

1/3 cup low sodium tamari or soy sauce

3 tablespoons dark brown sugar

2 tablespoons honey

1 tablespoon dark sesame oil

1 tablespoon rice cooking wine

1 tablespoon Hoisin sauce

2 tablespoon cooking oil

2 lbs. pork sirloin roast

1 large, sweet onion, thinly sliced

2 cloves garlic, sliced

2” piece fresh ginger, peeled and grated

Directions

Ina medium bowl mix together tamari, brown sugar, honey, sesame oil, rice wine, and hoisin.

 In a non-stick skillet, heat oil.   Add the roast and season with salt and pepper, sear on one side until golden brown (approx. 5 minutes), repeat on all sides.

Add seared meat to slow cooker, then add sliced onion, garlic, and ginger.  Pour sauce over the top of the roast. Cook covered on high for 4 to 5 hours or until pork falls apart when speared with a fork.
