Slow Cooker Classic Chili

Makes 6-8 servings

Ingredients

1 lb of grass-fed ground beef

1 lb of Ferndale Market ground turkey

1 large onion, finely chopped

2 cloves of garlic, finely minced

2 green peppers, diced

2 jalapeno peppers, diced

1 can of Field Day chili beans, 15 oz.

1 can of Field Day kidney beans, 15 oz.

2 cans of diced tomatoes, 14.5 oz.

2 cans of tomato sauce, 14.5 oz.

1 cup of water

5 tbsp of chili powder

2 tsp of black pepper

1 tsp of salt

Jalapeno, shredded cheese, scallions, sour cream for topping

Directions

In a medium fry pan, saute the ground been and turkey until almost cooked. Add in the onions  and peppers and cook another 3-4 minutes. Add in the garlic and cook 1 more minute.

Dump meat, onion, garlic mixture into a slow cooker. Add in chili beans, kidney beans, diced tomatoes, tomato sauce. Stir until combined. Add in cup of water, chili powder, black pepper, and salt and stir to combine. Cook on low for 6-8 hours – or high for 3-4 hours. 

Serve with jalapenos, shredded cheese and scallions and a side of cornbread.
