Banana Cake with Maple Cream Cheese Frosting

Ingredients

2 1/4 cups flour

1 tsp baking soda

1 tsp baking powder

1/2 tsp nutmeg

1 tsp cinnamon

1/2 cup butter

1 1/2 cups sugar

3 eggs

1 tsp vanilla

4 ripe bananas

1/4 cup yogurt

FROSTING

8 ounces of cream cheese

1/2 cup butter

3 cups powdered sugar

4 tsp maple syrup

1/2 cup walnuts, chopped

Directions

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

In a medium bowl, combine flour, baking soda, baking powder, salt , nutmeg, and cinnamon. Set aside.

Using a mixing bowl, whip butter. Add sugar and whip until combined. Beat in eggs one at a time. Add vanilla and beat until combined.

Add 1/3 of flour mixture alternating with banana mixture. Stir the batter after each addition until smooth.

Bake in two greased 9” inch cake pans for about 40 minutes.

Meanwhile, in a mixing bowl, beat cream cheese and butter. Add in powdered sugar 1 cup at a time, beating after each addition. Add in maple syrup and beat one last time.

Once cake is done baking - let cool completely. Once cooled, spread frosting on first layer. Add second cake and spread remaining frosting to cover. Sprinkle top of cake with walnuts.
