Slow Cooker Beef Tips
1 lb grass fed stew meat
1 cup of flour
2 tsp salt
2 tsp pepper
1 tbsp of olive oil
½ cup of red wine
2 cloves of garlic
4 cups of beef broth, divided
2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
1 bay leaf
½ cup onion, sliced
4 tbsp cornstarch
Directions
Using a paper towel, pat dry the stew meat. Mix the flour, salt and pepper in a medium bowl. Dredge the stew meat in the flour until completely coated.
Optional: In a large skillet, heat 1 tbsp of olive oil. Sear stew meat in batches. Stew meat should have brown edges – and will not be fully cooked.
Add stew meat to slow cooker. Add in red wine, garlic, Worcestershire, onion, bay leaf, and 3 cups of beef broth. Set slow cooker on low for 8 hours.
At 6 hours, stir 4 tbsp of cornstarch into 1 cup of beef broth. Add mixture to slow cooker and cook the remaining 2 hours.
