Salisbury Steak

1 lb of grass-fed, ground beef

2 tbsp olive oil, divided

½ tsp salt

½ tsp pepper

¼ tsp garlic powder

2 tsp Worcestershire Sauce

1 small onion, thinly sliced

2 tbsp butter

3 tbsp cornstarch

2 cups of beef broth

Parsley for garnish

Box of mashed potatoes (or homemade mashed potatoes)

Directions

Combine beef, salt, pepper, garlic powder, and Worcestershire sauce. Use your clean hands to thoroughly combine the mixture. Divide into 4 patties.

Heat 1 tbsp of olive oil in a medium fry pan. When pan is hot, cook patties, about 3-4 minutes on each side. Patties will finish cooking in the sauce – just looking to get a nice sear on both sides of the patty. Remove patties and set aside.

Add in additional 1 tbsp of olive oil to the pan. Cook onions on medium until they are a little brown and translucent. About 6-8 minutes. Remove onions and set aside.

In same fry pan, on medium, melt 2 tbsp of butter. Once melted add in 3 tbsp of cornstarch and stir until combined. Add in 2 cups of beef broth and continue stirring until the mixture is smooth and thickened.

Add the onions and patties back to the pan and cook on medium low another 8 – 10 minutes, or until the patties are cooked through.

Serve over mashed potatoes.
